The Task at Hand

It's been more than a month since I deep cleaned my apartment, and it's not pretty. I've got a big weekend ahead, and I will have a guest, so I pretty much have to clean like a mad woman today.

I waited until the very last moment to get it done, of course. That's what I do. I procrastinate.

There's always time to clean, right? I can always do it later, you know, after I get my daily dose of hours wasted online and whatnot. I have my priorities in order people.

I have to fold six loads of laundry, because the customary love seat laundry rotation has actually become an eyesore.

I need to mop the bathrooms and kitchen. I have to swiffer my shelves and pictures, and eradicate numerous dust bunnies from the dark corners of my abode. Someone fetch me my allergy pills.

I must wash sheets. I also have to make my sons beds; which incidentally haven't been made since the last time they slept in them... more than a week ago. I should have had my boys clean their own rooms too!

I'm determined to hang up all the clothes that are laying in a pile on my bedroom floor this time. I won't throw them on my closet floor and shut the door, I pinky swear. I have to pinky swear, because my other fingers are crossed.

Let's face it, I'm lazy and hate dealing with clothes. Sure, I love to buy them and wear them. I even enjoy washing them, in fact I look forward to bleaching my whites. I love stain removers. I'm ever so choosy about my soaps, and the dryer always gets three sheets of Bounce. It's the folding, and hanging, and putting away that I struggle with. And by 'struggle with' I mean refuse to do. Yes, I know I'm a 32 year old woman, and yes I know it's pathetic. I even know that my mother is ashamed, yet I still struggle with the latter part of laundry.

Panic and running short on time makes for adequate motivation though, and an even greater sense of accomplishment once it's done. I have that to look forward to, if nothing else.

I love it all, and vow to do better but girl, I HATE putting laundry away...

Here's to last minute- time crunch cleaning!

Hey, Misty! I was gonna say that! I love hearing the washing machine humming away, but I hate, hate, hate folding laundry! I'm constantly dealing with a bucket of clean, wrinkled laundry that I'm picking out of. Ugh!

Coincidentally, my latest post was also about house-cleaning and my lackadaisical ways when it comes to laundry-folding. I seriously had about 14 loads sitting in the living over the past month... I must have too many clothes... NAHHHH!

Folding and putting away laundry is at the bottom of the list of things I like to do. I'll clean a kitchen and vacuum all day long, though!

By the time I have actually done all the laundry, folded it and put all the kids clothes away, (my hubby puts his own away) mine sits in the basket often until it is time to start all over, then I throw it into my closet, on the floor and shut the door!! Rinse and Repeat!

I could've written that myself! Have fun!

Laundry is the bane of my existence.

That's why I have Olivia do it!

yesssssssssss, love doing the laundry, hate putting it away.

where's the laundry fairy when you need one?

Sounds as if you, me and a whole lot of others are in the same (laundry) basket.

Love to have clean clothes, hate to put them away. Ugh. If I don't put them away immediately, they just get recycled back in to be washed again because I can't stand wrinkled, floor/couch clothes.

Where is that damn laundry fairy?

I'm 46 and I feel exactly the same way about cleaning and laundry. Now my excuse is I have to study. ;P

What is it with cleaning/laundry posts this week? :) I guess it must have helped me though as I cleaned my house today.
I hate folding laundry, too. But mostly I hate dusting. I think it's having to pick up and move everything just to clean under it. Maybe I should get rid of some of that stuff... yeah, that'll never happen!

I'm the same way; I love washing it, hate folding & putting it away.
And um, guest? Did you think we'd just forget that part?

I hate cleaning too.

In fact, my husband got so sick of the laundry hanging about he decided to make it one of his chores.

Do I feel guilty? Yep. Am I going to change? Nope.

Good luck!

Love folding laundry once I start it...but hate those stacked full baskets that sit there and mock me!

Laundry is the bane of my existence, too.

PS. Affordable and eco-friendly tip on whitener: 1 cup white vinegar thrown in to the wash with soap will whiten and get out smells (like pee sheets and stinky towels) like you wouldn't believe. It's color-safe and no, it doesn't come out smelling like a pickle. :)

Oh gosh, I'm the same, HATE putting the laundry away!!!

I guess with the rest of the laundry you can just throw in big piles, but when it comes to putting away you have to deal with each and every item individually...

If I'm talking on the phone with headset I can usually do it - makes the folding and such less boring, and it's mindless enough that it doesn't distract from my call.

Hey piper hang in there. The more work you do now the easier the transition will be and you will be able to relax and get comfortable again. You can do it and you rock.

I absolutely hate doing laundry. It probably wouldn't be so bad if I wasn't mad it my clothes for not fitting any more.

Sounds like MY house!!! I am always scrambling around at 1-2am the day before company arrives. I just can't seem to keep a handle on it. Well, best of luck, I feel your pain. :)

Some day, when your boys are grown and gone, you'll be sad doing laundry, because you won't have enough to fill a load, and you'll wish for the days that you had more than enough. Nahhhh; you will celebrate!!
