Meet My Hair

Today I had a hair appointment, just a little trim. Evidently, the last time I had my hair trimmed was in September, and I can't believe it. My hair girl laughed at me, and told me she was surprised that I didn't have more split ends. I'm surprised too.

When it comes to my hair, I'm just super low maintenance I guess. Most of the time it's in a ponytail. I don't spend money on it either. Suave shampoo and a big handful of conditioner works just fine. I never use hairspray, and I don't use gel or mousse. This hair of mine is complicated enough without me adding to it.

You see, my hair has dual personalities. Parts of it are straight as a board, but the majority of it is just as curly as it can be. In order to wear it curly though, I have to scrunch and diffuse and then use a curling iron on the parts that didn't curl. To wear it straight, I have to blow it out straight, and then use a flat iron to smooth it out. My hair is also thicker than you can imagine, which means that it takes about 30 minutes to blow dry. So, if I wear it straight, it takes more than an hour to fix. Flat ironing hair is time consuming. My hair doesn't really look good curly either, it's not pretty curls I have, it's more like frizzy fly away curls.

I'm not complaining, just explaining.

I had long hair my whole life, like to-my-waist long. When I was 20 I got tired of it. I chopped it off to my chin, and promptly had a heart attack. See, when curly hair is short, it gets curlier. But, I didn't know that. The stupid stylist should have told me that I would look like Carrot Top, but she didn't. It took forever to grow back long.

I don't have hours to spend on my hair, not since I became a Mom. And that's okay by me. I hated my hair my whole life because it's red, but I'm okay with it now. I've realized that trendy hairdo's are never going to work for me. Long and simple is my hair's happy place.

I took a picture of myself today, because it won't look like this tomorrow. If you ever meet me, chances are you'll meet my ponytail.

Well it sure is purdy for at least today!

Gorgeous hair! As someone with straight, fine, thin hair, I am a bit envious ;).

My glasses are really similar to yours!

Purty!

My hair is the SAME way. Naturally curly, but straight underneath. I don't have a regular hair stylist, so every time I have to get it cut, I get to explain the same thing and they just look at me like I'm crazy.

Then my hair looks awesome for one whole day.

Hello hair, nice to have met you. BTW, the color of your eyes are AWESOME!!!

My hair is thin and bone straight. I would love thick, curly hair... I guess everyone likes hair that is different from their own. I favor ponytails too. :D

Gorgeous photo! Very mod, I love it!

I have the same hair "issues" as you. Although I've opted for shorter in the last few years I had waist length hair all up through college.

Finally this spring I got it short again (since my son was using it for a handle) and decided I was going to learn how to make it look good instead of fly away. I don't do it every day, but I think I finally can feel good about how I look when I put a little effort into it.

Good thing since it's my 10 year HS reunion this weekend! Ack!

Looks great!
I'm a low-maintenance hair girl too.

I also have baby-fine hair. Color me jealous.

I've spent my whole life wishing for hair like yours! I'm like Melisa--of the baby fine variety, with curls, too! My daughters, though, have hair like yours, and they are usually ponytail girls, too. Have a Happy 4th!

Lovely...just lovely! Before I had littleman I had curly hair...spiral curls, then during my pregnancy it decided to go straight. As the years went by, it decided to add some waves in....I guess my hair also has a personality all it's own...and man can it be moody! LOL!

Piper, you're beautiful & your hair is too. Pony tail or not.

You have great hair. I am the same way. I never seem to get my hair cut on a schedule. I just wake up one day and think... I should get my hair cut today. No rhyme or reason to it.

ah Pipe... yes another reason why I love ya... we have the SAME hair. (My messy bun says hello to your pony tail!)

My darling Piper. Aside from mine being a dark auburn as opposed to your strawberry, we have the same hair. I feel you. The back is crazy curly, the front is board straight. I always do ponytails, too.
Your hair looks gorgeous.
Hope your 4th was all you wanted it to be.
Smooches.

You're hair is perdy! I'm "low maintenance" too. I hate dropping money for my hair. And...mine takes a while to blow out as well...so I generally let it mostly air dry and then blow dry it for a few min IF I'm going out. Otherwise, I let it all air dry. Which means it gets wavy for half of it and the rest is straight.

Your hair is nice; I'm sure many people would love to have hair like yours.

Love your hair. I have to get mine blown dry to look like that! Have the same hair issues.

My hair is much like yours and I've learned recently that if I do nothing to it, it looks just good enough to get by but just bad enough that without make-up my husband will take over with the baby/housework so I can get some rest!!

It's goooooorgeous.

I think we're hair twins.

You just described my hair to a tee!

I like to tell my hair dresser I have high maintenance hair, but I'm a low maintenance person!

I find it easier to care for at the shoulder length though. Easy to put back and easy to dry quickly.

But yours is a beautiful color!

I do the same, I go months and months without getting it done! I think it's because I am a "mom" and go for the pony tail all too often.

I know I'm a little late on this one but, like a few other people here, my hair is the exact same way. Only I was 13 when I cut it up to my chin and it foofed out like a wavy, frizzy mess, and back then, I didn't know how to use flat irons or mousse or anything!

Also, I want your glasses for my own.
